Ceramic drum brake is a new type of drum brake used in electric scooters and mopeds. The technology is based on ceramic composite pad and energy-saving roller brake system.

Compared with the conventional drum brake, the advantages of the ceramic brake are in two aspects: better braking performance and longer service life. In terms of performance, the emergency braking distance can be shortened by more than 30%; in the case of continuous braking, the performance will not deteriorate due to brake pad overheating. In terms of service life, the ceramic composite material has good wear resistance and high temperature resistance. The fully sealed housing design protects the brakes from water and dirt. According to the test results, the wear resistance performance of ceramic brake is five times better. Since Luyuan launched this technology in June 2017, it has received high praise from consumers.

CBS

Combined Brake System

Hydraulic CBS is widely used in high-performance petrol motorbikes. By combining the basic CBS technology with ceramic drum brake technology, Luyuan developed a mechanical combination ceramic drum brake system, which realised the CBS for the double drum brake used in low-speed electric bikes and electric scooters. In this way, the driver can perform braking with both front and rear wheels with the push of one hand. Under unfavourable weather conditions or in case of bad road, CBS can provide balanced braking, prevent sliding or rollover due to imbalance of braking force. Luyuan has optimised all the technical details regarding power and transmission, and solved the problem of energy saving.

High-tech brake disc

Conventional disc brakes are characterised by problems such as shifting brake pads, brake noise, and accelerated wear that affect braking performance and driving range. As the vehicle is used for long periods of time in street conditions, dirt and water can easily get into standard brakes, making the situation worse. If the disc brake is damaged, it is difficult to repair and the cost of repair is quite high. Luyuan high-tech disc brake is made by one-piece casting method. The disc is easy to be eccentrically displaced and fully contact with the brake pads, and the brake pads are evenly displaced. In this way, braking performance is improved, service life is extended and maintenance is minimised.

Anti-puncture tyre

Luyuan anti-skid tyre is a new type of tyre that has been highly praised by consumers. It has a layer of steel anti-puncture mesh on the carcass, which greatly improves the puncture resistance. The impact force that the tyre can withstand is 60-70 Joules, which is about 1.5 times the normal impact force.

RunFlat tyres

RunFlat technology is based on the concept of reinforced tyre sidewalls. Luyuan has incorporated this car tyre technology into the production of electric scooters. When a conventional tyre is deflated, it simply settles under the weight of the vehicle, the beads move away from the rim and the sidewalls flatten out onto the road. RunFlat technology allows you to continue driving even if the tyre is flat or there is a loss of pressure due to a puncture. If the object that punctured the tyre is still inside, the RUNFLAT technology allows the vehicle to drive another 30-50 km.

Anti-puncture tyres with aramid fibres

Aramid fibre (Kevlar and Twaron are the most common) is a high-strength composite material used in bulletproof vests, helmets and other protective equipment. Luyuan uses aramid fibres to increase tyre puncture resistance. The impact force that such a tyre can withstand is more than 100 Joules, which is about 3-4 times that of conventional tyres.

Battery cable

An ordinary battery cable is connected to the battery terminal by metal terminals, whose contact with the battery terminals becomes loose after constant vibration during driving, resulting in terminal heating and possible spontaneous combustion. It is these problems that the battery cable with serrated terminal structure, developed and patented by Luyuan, solves.

Battery Charger

Luyuan has developed the seventh-generation electric vehicle charger (EV charger), which has received positive feedback from customers. The charger is characterised by a high level of safety and efficiency. This is primarily reflected in its dustproof, waterproof, and heat dissipation capability, which greatly increases its life cycle. If the charger is constantly subjected to overheating, its components will quickly fail, which can cause damage to the charger and the battery, and may even lead to fire. Luyuan's charger cooler has a service life of 7000 hours, which is 20 times longer than that of an ordinary cooler, thus extending the service life of the charger as a whole.

Charger with multiple degrees of protection

Luyuan fully sealed charger has the following types of protection: moisture protection, overheating protection, dust protection, vibration protection, short circuit protection and overcharge protection. The closed type of structure without cooler is used. The sealed inner circuit structure is a heat dissipating shell made of graphene nanosheets, which provides water resistance, dust protection, heat dissipation and anti-vibration function. The external insulating structure is made of plastic, which protects against the risk of electric shock.

PGR Motor

This is one of the largest invention patents of Luyuan. Luyuan two-wheelers use planetary gearboxes (motor). This eliminates slip and utilises non-magnetic slip resistance, and reduces the induced electromotive force generated when the motor slides and prevents back-charging, thus effectively protecting the lithium battery.

The advantages of the motor using planetary gearbox are:
  • 20% increase in motor power with the performance of electric vehicles with conventional motor;
  • 15-20% increase in driving range compared to electric vehicles with a conventional motor;
  • Reduction of motor weight;
  • Optimisation of operation;
  • Prevention of reverse charging.

Liquid Colling Motor

Increased motor temperature can lead to reduced motor power, shorter motor life, and short circuit. The advantages of Luyuan Liquid Colling Motors are that the internal temperature control system can effectively heat the motor, which helps to avoid premature motor failure. Due to the coolant, the temperature of the motor can be reduced by 30℃. Patented waterproof design (IP67 protection level) with internal air exchange system, which can prevent water from entering the motor, thus reducing the risk of component corrosion and short-circuit and extending the life of the motor. The motor performance can reach up to 90%.

High-tech LCD Display

This is the new generation of high-tech display for electric scooters. The display shows speed, battery level, motor temperature and braking distance.

  • The motor temperature information can help the driver to evaluate the load condition, if the temperature is high, the motor should be cooled down or paused.
  • Braking distance information can help to stop the vehicle in time.
